How WorldSafe supports your application.

Three phases carry a nonprofit from risk picture to final award.

1
Assessment

A WorldSafe practitioner produces an objective, grant-ready risk and vulnerability assessment of your facility. It documents the threats specific to your organization and the gaps funding should close.

2
Application

WorldSafe prepares the application and assists with submission, translating the assessment into the narrative and investment detail reviewers look for.

3
Approval

Your state reviews and scores applications, then submits its top projects to FEMA for final approval. A clear assessment gives yours the strongest standing.

What the funding can cover.

WorldSafe maps assessment findings to the categories most likely to score.

Security cameras and video management
Access control, locks, and credentialing
Perimeter and building hardening
Interior and exterior security lighting
Emergency communication and notification
Training, planning, and exercises
Who qualifies

Nonprofits at risk of a targeted attack: houses of worship, faith-based schools, religious institutions, community centers, cultural institutions, advocacy groups, and human service providers.

NSGP moves on your state's calendar.

The program runs through your State Administrative Agency, and deadlines vary. In FY2026 several states closed two weeks or more ahead of the federal date, and some required registration earlier still. A competitive application takes time to build, and it starts with the assessment. Organizations that win funding start early.

FY2026 made $300M available and closed July 24, 2026.
FY2027 is the next cycle. Assessment work happens before the notice publishes.
Multi-site organizations can apply for each eligible facility.
Prepare for risks before they become realities.
